For Scrappin Studio Weekly Challenge 16May

Hello, dear readers!

Am back again, this time joining in the Weekly Challenge over at Scrappin Studio.  The challenge is to create an 8.5"x11" layout.  It is my first time to make a layout of this dimension and i surprisingly found out, in this instance, that i could easily fill the page! :)  The sketch i used (and rotated and flipped) is from one of the April 2011 PageMaps.

This LO is about my kids spending time with my side of the family at the beach.  Just when everyone is grouped and lined up for a photograph (guess who's the photographer?), the two boys just walk off in different directions!!!  i love that i captured this :)

Here it is, entitled Beach Escape.

Here are some close-ups:

On the largest photo: you can see that the word "escape" in the title is popped up.  Used stickers here, but putting the foam tape on them had been a bit fiddly for me, so i placed the alphas on acetate and this made it easier for me to pop the word up.

On the top right photo:  i just love the columns of circles here! This is what actually drew me to the sketch :)  The butterflies on the circles are just partially glued, so the wings are a bit lifted up.  Have put some Stickles on their centers, and realized too late that i've put too much LOL! Not really the effect i wanted but it turned out fine and i like it :) And i really like using Studio Calico's Fabrips, although i've to get used to manipulating them hahaha!  Made uneven pleats with them on this layout to give a feeling of ripples in the water.

On the bottom right:  made a pinwheel for a sun.  It can actually spin! :)  (See the difference in position between this photo and the big one?) Wanted this layout to be a bit interactive, with the pinwheel and the ripple-y Fabrips.

Materials:  All papers and embellishments are from Studio Calico's March kit; alphas from Pink Paislee;  Addy stamp from Studio Calico; flower brad.

Let me know what you think, i really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for visiting!
